Craig Middle School Supply List for 2016-2017

This is a general list of items for CMS students, no matter what team they will be on for the upcoming school year. If there are any specific items for each class, students will be notified during the first week of school.

6th Grade

All 6th grade students need the following materials; individual teachers may require additional supplies and you will be notified of requirements during the first week of school.  Items marked with an asterisk (*) will be collected by your student’s social studies teacher the first day of school.

 

*Set of colored pencils (8)

*Scissors

One ruler (with centimeters and inches)

Small pencil box or bag

Two packages of #2, 20-count pencils with erasers (Replenish as needed)

*Five one-subject, college-ruled notebooks

*Five two-pocket folders

*Two packages of college-ruled notebook paper

*Five glue sticks

*Five highlighters (1 of each orange, yellow, pink, green, and blue)

*Three boxes of Kleenex

*One roll of paper towels (science)

*One package graph paper

*Organizational Folder (Trapper Keeper, accordion file, etc.)


7th Grade- 2 boxes of pencils (replenish as needed), red pens, colored pencils, markers, highlighters, glue, 1 roll scotch tape, 3 ring binder for each class, A pocket folder with three holes for each class for one 3 ring binder, loose leaf paper to be replenished as needed, 2 boxes of kleenex, graph paper (¼ in. cubed), calculator (TI-30XIIS or similar), protractor, ruler (with centimeters and inches)

8th Grade - pencils, paper, some kind of organizational unit (trapper keeper, accordion folder,) folders, colored pencils, pens, scientific calculator, ruler, box of Kleenex/tissues (donate to focus class), scissors, highlighters, graph paper, glue sticks, grading pen, save texas instruments proof of purchase labels (like boxtops for education) 3-Ring Binders, maybe more for other subjects, Dividers, Loose-leaf paper, notebook *not spiral, red pen

Math: 3-Ring binder, dividers, loose leaf paper, graph paper, colored pencils, pencils, red pens glue stick, highlighters, ruler, scientific calculator (TI-30XIIS) or better

 

Electives

Physical Education:  Tennis shoes: clean & non marking soles

            Dark colored shorts/sweats that meet the school dress code (please no spandex or tight leggings, Physical Education uniform top (purchase at the the school)


BAND

  1. 6TH GRADE

    1. $8.00 band book.

    2. There is $5 per year band activity fee.

    3. $10 app fee (forScore) contingent on the the possession of iPads by 6th graders

    4. If 6th grade does not have iPads each student will need a white, 3 ring, binder with a hard cover.

    5. Students/families are required to rent an instrument from a regional music store or purchase an instrument.  Instruments will be decided in August at a series of trial nights.  More information is forthcoming.

    6. Students/families are responsible for accessories associated with the instrument that will be chosen.

    7. Rentals run anywhere from $25 to $50 per month depending on the provider and the instrument.  The district has a few background instrument available that will rent for $20 a month.

    8. Please do not acquire and instrument until the trials are complete and the recommendations given.

    10. Pencil every day

    11. The $18 materials fee for band is due by the Thursday, September 1, 2016

    12. The performance uniform is black slacks, dark shoes and a dark blue polo shirt.

  2. 7TH GRADE

    1. Concert Time for Beginning Band (the concert book that we used in 6th grade).  If you lost or ruined your book, you will have to replace it before school starts.  No book - No band.  I will not be ordering these for 7th grade band.

    2. There is $5 per year band activity fee.

    3. $10.00 Band Book for First Performance Plus is due by September 1, 2016

    4. Students/families are required to rent an instrument from a regional music store or purchase an instrument.

    5. The district has a few background instrument available that will rent for $20 a month.  This rental fee covers annual, routine maintenance only.  Major repairs are the responsibility of the family.

    6. Students are responsible to purchase reeds, oil, grease, mouthpieces, neck-straps, cleaning kits and mallets associated with their instruments.

    7. Students wishing to experiment with another instrument must not assume that it is a done deal until the director and family have an opportunity to work it out.

Attention Parents:

 

All MCSD students who wish to play a sport must have a current Sports Physical and proof of insurance on file in their school office before being allowed to participate.

Forms are available for printing under the athletics tab.
